Matthew 4:18-22 || 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him. 21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
David’s life has been filled with pain from a childhood filled with abuse, addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and emptiness from chasing the things of the world while trying to fill a hole. However, while David was chasing the world, God was chasing after David’s heart, and David felt His presence on the water. On one particular fishing trip, David asked God what He wanted David to do, and David heard God say that it was time to leave fishing and go home, so David left it all behind. David’s history of pain is now turned into a future of refining, and David’s goal is to help others to see that no matter how broken, Jesus can put the pieces back together again. David wants to help others who feel like there is no hope to find healing in Jesus.
