Part 3: Easten’s Lil Heart: How God Joined Two Families Together Forever
(He Turns Ashes Into Beauty)

Matthew 12:43-45|| 43 When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.

In this third story of our three-part series, we will learn about two families who faced insurmountable challenges as they watched their babies struggling in immense pain to survive. Both families faced unexpected roadblocks and were forced to watch their precious babies be brought by helicopter to the hospital while they followed in their cars, not knowing what to expect when they arrived. Both families were praying for a miracle.

Neither family could imagine the miracle that was unfolding before them. Life is messy, and even miracles can appear messy sometimes, but this story shows that God does work things out, not always in the ways we expect or even hope for, but trusting in God’s plans brings peace, hope for a future not of this world, and sometimes even a few new people we can call family, too.

This is a story about two worlds that were falling apart, and God taking the pieces and putting them into place; He changed the ashes into beauty. Isaiah 61:3 says, “. . . to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”
